The Arizona
CCW Permit
In order to carry a concealed weapon (ARS
13-3101) in Arizona it is necessary to have in one's possession
a valid Carrying Concealed Weapon (CCW) permit. Arizona is a shall
issue (also called presumptive right-to-carry) state
- this means that authorities are required to provide a license
to any applicant who meets the specified requirements and prerequisites.
In addition to being a shall-issue state, Arizona is also
an open-carry state where firearms and other weapons may be carried
on or about one's person if they are exposed (ARS
13-3102). There are a couple of exceptions to the carrying
of concealed weapons without an Arizona permit - namely (a) in
your own dwelling, (b) in your own business, (c) on
real estate owned or leased by you or (d) carrying a permit
from another state which is recognized (see DPS
reciprocity information) by the State of Arizona. Additional
information on State CCW laws can be found at Packing.Org and
information specific to Arizona can be located at packing.org
Arizona pages. The Department of Public Safety shall issue
a permit to an applicant who meets all of the following conditions:

state requirements. There are numerous state permitted training
institutes to choose from, the quality of instructors and instruction
varies significantly. By far the best source for information on
